SortMe
Leading the engineering team behind a personal-finance product, from the code to the automation that helps us ship it.
The question
How can a household see its money clearly enough to plan for the bills ahead?
Your bank balance can look quite reassuring until you remember everything that still needs to come out of it. SortMe puts accounts, investments, spending, and upcoming bills together for households in New Zealand.
My role and approach
I lead the engineering team working on SortMe through Atas.AI. I’m involved in the product we build and the way the team builds it.
My responsibilities include:
- Working on the code and taking responsibility for it.
- Leading the engineering team.
- Improving engineering automation and continuous integration.
The product
SortMe brings the household’s financial picture together, with budgeting around payday and a view of the cashflow ahead. Partners can share that view, too.
The product also includes an AI assistant for questions about a person’s own finances. That adds another part of the application for us to think through carefully.
Working on it
I enjoy having this much involvement. I can work directly on the software, help the team move it forward, and improve the automation around our work. I stay close to the details while taking responsibility for how the team gets things shipped.
